Comics from nothing. About nothing. Look at that.

Ink brushes abound! But they don’t play very nice with digtal art, so I don’t think I’ll do this again!

Took a short break from the Waterlogged line because digital art is really hard. Going back to ink was a wonder. I have never felt better while making comics. This is just more fuel to the fire that says I will go wholesale back into traditional media once the Waterlogged thing blows over. At least for a while.

Also, I keep a journal of my dreams. Often after returning to the things I have written, I am unable to tell what they mean or what happened. Here are a few excerpts:

• Government secrets, underground, locked doors, almost caught, soldiers, hiding, guns, stealth, invisibility, experiment kids, giant warehouses, huge fireworks, wooden busts, friendly guy.
• Party, David Blaine string performer, like to hit people. Dance w/o me.
• Arcades, deep underground, Japan, bar in pipes, new ocean, SEWER??? DRAIN?? Jpn twins, wte, glb or glg, charges.
• University, breakfast, low wage, startup, coffee madame.
• Rat, flesh peels back, a person comes out.
• Endless towers, grey stone, spirals. Lights = crystals on poles or floating. Burn black cliffs.
• PAN ON HEAD!
• Hide in the ceiling = rain.
• Subjective motion/object = throwing hand.
• Stop dieing on my porch!
• Dad handicapped.
• 12 things that I hate, Sakura and Satan, tied up, lonely process, sister = Iron Man.
• Castle under siege, blue light, infection, crazy frog, bad techno.
• NEED TIME TO SIGN (not far to house).

So: school is over. This means that I will have more time for comics over the next few weeks before the new semester starts in, giving me more of a chance to finish them more completely and (maybe?) faster.

Well this isn’t late or anything. It’s always fun to have finals just after saying I was gonna post more often. It’s not as finished as I wanted it to be, but it’s as finished as it’s gonna GET, so there. And about the content: to the people who say they do not understand my symbols, perhaps this can put things into context.

In other news, the big ol’ subscribe button above this page appears to be working all of a sudden, so either it fixed itself miraculously, or KicktheCAN fixed it without telling me. Regardless, you can now follow GNGL via RSS! Nevermind! I guess I was just picked bad times to try it out!

And as a final note, who the hell is in charge of love stories? I decided to write one this last week, just as a side project, sort of, and so I went out looking for reference material. But none of these love stories I read have anything to do with real people! Where are the awkward romances? Where are the bad kisses? Where is the FEAR? Seriously.

So this whole “smaller comics more often” thing is way cooler than i had thought. The extra amount of work I was able to do on each panel allows me to bring them to a far superior state of completion. Also I like them all better. I hope you all do as well.

So this is actually something of a double post. This weekend I was cleaning out my desk, and I discovered (among other things) a short story that I wrote when I was fifteen. It was kind of bad, but I cleaned it up a bit and edited it a lot, and I’ve published it over on DA, so you can find it here. It has nothing to do with GNGL or comics, but I thought you all might like it anyway.

Ah, symbolism. If this one was more finished, it might be a little easier to get.

Obviously, I’m taking on too much as far as the length of pages goes these days. I’ll be shorter in the future. And don’t worry, the actual exposition starts soon enough.

I hope people have been finding this site. I’ve been trying to install a counter on here somewhere, but all attempts appear to have failed, or just no one has ever been here but me. So if you come by here, post a comment or something. That would be cool.

I think that this “Waterlogged” thing will run until maybe Christmas. After that I think I will return completely to traditional media.

Out of curiosity, what would you guys think about a painted comic? Like an oil painting?

Well this is up. But it’s not really done, per se. However, I’ve gotten sick of looking at at it, so I’m gonna finish it up as fast as possible.

I imagine that the second part will be up on Tuesday or Wednesday, and the last part toward the end of the week.
